The grommet tool kit has been on the market for some time now. It has been one of those products that I picked up many times but always put it back. I am so glad that I did put it back because I don’t think it is worth the money.
It retails for around $19.99. You get 2 anywhere hole punches (1″ to 1 1/2″), 2 setting handles (small and large), double sided setting base, self healing mat and some assorted grommets. You can purchase extra grommets from anywhere of $4.95 for a small package or $9.95 for an assorted package.
I have read what many people who have purchased this thought of it. And I am sad to report that there isn’t very many people who have been happy with this product. Some people have had problems with the anywhere punches. But most of them said that they are not using it. And some gave tips on how to use the grommets without buying the kit.
Since I had already decided not to purchase this, I bought a package of the grommets because I thought they were stinkin cute. I took my grommets to a crop with my friends and tried to set it without the tool. First you need to have a 1″ punch or a 1 1/2″ punch, granted my punch wasn’t any anywhere punch but it did the trick. Then, you set the grommet in the hole and I first tried to lay the prongs down with just my fingers that didn’t work so I tried to use the end of my hammer, that was also not working. So I got out my trusty pliers and was able to lay them down. I dont’ know about you but this is too much work for the end result.
I think that the grommets might look cute on a layout or possibly a card but I just don’t see me using them that much. I am so glad that this was one product that I left hanging on the shelves.
